I really cannot watch this film enough times. It's the supreme blend of entertainment and porn, all in one movie - perfect!

Plus, amazingly, it's not all superficial drooling from scarletpeaches. The story works! The way it unfolds to its conclusion is wonderful.

If you ask yourself, what do these characters want, in Maximus's case, it's obvious - he wants to go home.

Commodus? He wants to be loved.

And me? I'm happy because I get to see Wack with his shirt off, being all unmerciful.

Yeah. But I watched Richard Hammond's programme on the bloody mess that was Omaha Beach

This is my favorite movie of all time, but for completely different reasons.

There's nothing sexier than a growly Maximus. I'd let him conquer PattiLand in a heartbeat.

I watched Foyle's War (I like those period detective pieces even if the characters are mostly English twit stereotypes and reality gets bent to fit the plot) and flicked to Bloody Omaha and Glad-boy during ads (and sometimes forgot to switch back promptly). Mr. Hammond ("Yes, but how fast did the tanks go?") looked out of his depth as his overearnest companion tried to make him feel something for black dots in aerial photographs. A depressingly serious subject that warranted a heavier frontman. Gladiator is still nice eye candy tho' with hindsight Ridley made a couple of oopsies.

Kansas! Again.
Gladiator depressed me. The battle scenes showed the Legionaries breaking formation and engaging in one on one combat.

That would never have happened. Legions fought in formation. That's what made them mighty.
