in one story?

In other words, if I have a story that focuses on a male/female couple, is that the only sort of nookie I should write about in that story? Because the story I've been toodling around with seems to have a female/female couple, secondary to the story, that can't keep their hands off one another.

Are readers generally squicked out by f/f scenes if they're reading a story about a m/f couple?

Then again, should I have a secondary couple knocking boots at all, or just focus on the main characters?

Dear god, I never thought I'd be writing Regency erotica, but it just won't go away.

My favorite erotica novels focus on several different kinds of relationships. m/f, m/m, f/f or multiples. You're fine...let 'em go at it! :)

I think the answer to that depends on how secondary they are to the story. I realize if you're writing erotica sex kind of *is* the point, but unless it's just sex (i.e. no plot, or worse a BAD plot) it's not going to hold my interest... beyond flipping through the pages for the, uh, "good parts." ;)

As a typical straight American male, my instant response to a f/f scene is "YES!" :partyguy: but as a reader it's got to fit the story.

So, if they're secondary as in sub-plot, and not secondary as in background, then by all means, go for it. :D

I would caution you than some readers of mf will not want ff scenes, and vice versa. I read both but I am aware that a lot of the erotic readship, especially in erotic romance, is exclusive to only certain types.

Yeah, what is it with these narrow-minded folks, anyway?

You should see the looks I get just for browsing the African American section. People are odd because you are not meant to read anything that isn't 'you' apparently.

But then me, I'd read sentient vegetable erotica, my little ponies, golems constructed entirely from post-it notes--hell even Republicans. The right author can make anything work.

why not just lead them up to the trough....let them get close....but not actually drink the water (so to speak).....you........a little unresolved sexual tension to rachet up the intensity? I've always thought that was a very powerful way of instituting some emotion.....make them think about it, plan it, even get close enough to taste (but not quite.....).........

just my 2 cents worth.........

good luck with your WIP !

I've heard a lot of people say putting f/f scenes in a book hurt the sales. I know I have a book with a brief f/f scene and it didn't sell as strongly as some others.

I think I would probably agree with this. If I buy a book expecting to read about a man and a woman and then I find out there are other kinds of relationships going on, I might not like that very much.

However, I have read novels in which there were other couplings going on along with m/f.
