I'm looking for a title for the third book in a planned triology.
First book is Witness as in one who witnessed Jesus' ministry
Second book is Disciple as in one decides to follow the Risen Christ
Think of it like a quiz show.
Witness, Disciple...What comes next ??

All I've been able to come up with is Martyr, which I'm not crazy about.

Thanks for your input.

Can you tell us what happens in the third book? It's hard to choose a title when we don't know the characters or plot. Is it like the book of Acts where the Disciples spread the gospel?

Just going on what you've given me, I'd say "Apostle" (which means 'sent out one'). First the person witnesses the life of Christ, then he makes a decision to become a disciple or follower, and the natural extension of that seems to be the sharing of his faith with others.

Prophet.

Martyr (your idea isn't bad, really, and it makes sense chronologically...)

Heretic (if you want a surprise twist!)

Savior

Apostle. The 12 Apostles were chosen from the disciples, which were chosen from the witnesses of Christ's teachings and miracles.

The four Evangelists (as title, not description of what they did everyday) Matthew, Mark, Luke, John - only two were Apostles. Mark and Luke were disciples, but not of Jesus.

Perhaps III is right, I didn't give you enough info.
In the first book the MC goes to Bethlehem with the shepherds as a child and thrity-three years later happens to be in Jerusalem and witnesses the crucuifixion. The second book picks up with Acts. Pentecost, Stephen's stoning, growth and eventual persecution of followers of the Way. They leave Jerusalem and eventually end up in Antioch where they become known as "Christians." Third book has Peter leaving Antioch for Rome and Paul, who's been absent since his conversion, coming to the church there. (This is only roughly plotted because I'm still working on the second one.) The MC's husband is elected bishop and ordained by Peter before he leaves. Late in the third book, I'm guessing they'll leave Antioch to join Peter in Rome and Paul will ordain Ignatious the next (and third) bishop of Antioch. Hence Martyr...but that means I'll have to kill my MC. (sob)

So? My WIP is also church-era Biblical fiction, and, if I write the sequel, I've already planned to kill my main character 2/3 the way through and let his son carry on.

In my head.
Rather than Martyr, I'd like to suggest Sacrifice. And, if you really don't want to kill off your MC you could have the MC be shown what it means to really scarifice, through their experience and relationship with another character. But, if it is a trilogy, then maybe you want to kill off your MC anyway?

I just like the flow of Witness, Disciple, Sacrifice

One that came to my mind was Bondservant. I like Apostle, too, but a lot of people don't see much, if any, difference between Disciple and Apostle, even though there is.

Title-wise, it could be anti-climactic, after Disciple. I love learning about series titles before they come out, anticipating what it might be. Some have been anti-climactic after all that anticipation. Apostle might imply that it's not going to be very different from the story in Disciple. Bondservant, however, catches my attention. Heck, you could even go with Slave, for that matter.
