He dumped the contents of the bag onto the table. An apple, bottle of Reddiwhip and some potato chips lay strewn before him.

Do you italicize Reddiwhip here?

I think that's correct, but I'm having surprising difficulty supporting my opinion. I can't find anything that addresses it specifically, unless a brand name would be analogous to the title of a work.

ETA: I stand corrected.

I don't know what Reddiwhip is. I don't think I normally italicise brand names. This reference only mentions brands in the context of cars, but I'd hold the same applies to any brand.

No, you absolutely don't italicize brand names. Just capitalize them. Otherwise, the people who spend vast sums of money on ads in the Columbia Journalism Review reminding you to do so will be sad.

Here's the relevant SparkNotes Style Guide page.

No. And Reddiwhip comes in a can, not a bottle.

Albedo, Reddiwhip is squirty cream. Comes in a pressurized can rather like shaving cream or hair mousse.

Now I'm imagining a scene in which a character is eating an apple, potato chips and a can of whipped cream for lunch...spraying the cream onto the apple and taking sad, lonely bites...stuffing handfuls of crisps through a whipped-cream mustache....

Yum. Sounds good to me! Well, except for the crisps after the whipped cream. Crisps are a first course.

I would try to avoid using a brand name - a "can of whipped cream" is just as effective.
