Hey, I'm new to these boards; got spit out of the registration womb about... an hour ago. I'm 18, born and living in Ireland and am in my last year of secondary (high) school. I won't be posting a whole lot here until my exams finish in late June as they pretty much decide which college I go to - my number 1 choice being Film Studies in Trinity College (the same place James Joyce & if I recall, WB Yeats went), but that may be a reach as I'd need close to straight A's. Once my exams are done in the summer I hope to start writing screenplays, having read a good 4-6 books on it in the last 18 months (Russin & Downs' book is better than McKee's, in my opinion), so expect a lot more activity from me in the summer! I also write a small bit of poetry here and there. Anyway, I hope to be a remember here for a good while as it seems like a well-run, friendly and active forum (a stangely rare combination for online writing forums I have come to notice), so for now, slain go deas (Irish for goodbye).

Hi Bill! This is a well-run, friendly and helpful place. I tried out a few others before I landed here, too, and some of them are scary. Jenna and the mods do a spectacular job here.

I don't do screenplays myself, but I'm sure there's lots of info here, so have a look around. And best of luck with your exams!

Welcome to the cooler, Bill. This is a great place to interact with knowledgeable and friendly people, so you are in the right place! It sounds like you have a bright future looming ahead and I wish you much success. I don't write screenplays but I do write poetry as well.

Good luck!

right here, silly
Welcome, Bill! I'm no screenwriter and I don't play one on TV, but I do know that this is a great place to hang out to learn about all sorts of writing and to make friends, too. We're a little crazy (OK, some of us are more than a little...), but for the most part, we're a nice bunch in here. Look around - there's a lot of good stuff just waiting to be found! (And you'll like the moderator in the screenwriting room.)

Hi Bill! My sainted mother and father were born and grew up in Dublin; Dun Laoghaire and Sutton respectively, and dad went to Trinity! How cool is that? It's great to meet you and I hope you have a fabulous time whenever you are here. I was born in Canada only two years after they moved to Canada. I've never set foot on the old sod, but somehow have always felt Ireland's magical pull. If you're down on O'Connell bridge, give us a wave, there's a web cam there I look in on every now and then.

Well, funny story in that case - if I don't go to Trinity, there's a fair chance I'll be heading off to... Dun Laoighaire IT! (for others, it's pronounced 'Done Leary'). And if I'm on O'Connell Bridge in the near future, I might be a little intoxicated.

Any idea what part? Because, another coincidence, both my parents are from there (Charlestown - where the mother of Liam & Noel Gallagher of Oasis lives - and Castlebar).
