When I was young, I remember kids often sticking their tongues out at each other in a gesture that, I suppose, would equate to a milder form of adults giving each other the finger. For those of you with kids or who spend time around kids, is this behavior still fairly common?

Yup. Kids do it all the time.

A kid did it to me a few months back on the bus.
I've seen it happen less in my environment, though.
Either kids are getting more polite, or they're better at hiding it. ;)

If he stuck his tongue out at you, I would say they're getting less polite. I recall tongue sticks being reserved for other kids only, not adults. :tongue
