Then there's the Darren Shan books - none of which I've ever read, but he recently did a book tour of British schools and visited one round the corner from where I live. I'm not a fan, not a reader, so didn't bother showing up.

But he's very, very popular I'm told.

Kids love scary stuff. My personal favorite is Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are. Not exactly horror, of course, but it sets the wee ones off on the right track.

I prefer writing for kids, especially fantasy. I've worked horror into some of the stories (unintentionally some times) but it's nice to see there is a market out there for it. I like to think that targeting the younger crowd can give a writer a better foothold. Maybe this isn't true, but I'm comfortable writing for this genre.

I've actually got something scary for the kiddos turning around in my brain a bit as of late. I've got some of it on paper, but haven't worked on it in awhile.

I'll say...it involves Comic Books, A large troll in a diaper, and elements of Tales from the Crypt!

I loved the House of Mystery from DC comics when I was a wee little lad. My pre-teen son totally digs Goosebumps and Nightmare Room stories. We begs to go to the library for more of them, but usually comes out with a handful of DBZ graphic novels or others like it.

Are you talking about the movie? Not scheduled until next year.

If it get's good reviews, I just might go see it. I purely loved the book, though. I first saw it when I bought it for my kids. I think I read it more times than they did.

Listen...my kid is addicted to 'Tales from...' She really loves the entire horror genre but until now, I've had to be careeful what she sees because the horror movies are targeting an older group.

I think we need some movies/books/TV along the line of...uh...(names..names..) R.L. Stein, ... something scary...but 'kid' scary. 11 to 15.
Yeah...a lot of them. This is a big market. Stand outside any middle school and.... ok...well a hundred feet away for some ofhaggisyou.

(...yes...I took 'Necroscope' out of her hot little hands. She can read Lovecraft, though. In fact, I insist!)
