Ack! I'm going to be on NPR (National Public Radio) tomorrow morning!

A producer at NPR's new show, The Bryant Park Project, instant messaged me on AIM a few minutes ago, wanting me to be a phone guest on one of their segments tomorrow morning! The segment will be about grammar mistakes.

How does this pertain to blogging? The producer found my blog, and contacted me from there.

Apparently one of their hosts made a grammar boo-boo this morning, misusing the phrase "begging the question." Now they want to talk about that and other misused phrases.

Do you have a grammar peeve that you'd like me to bring up for the show? Leave me a message in the comments of this thread or on my blog! And say a prayer for me-- I am very nervous! Eeek!

More info at my blog!

Behind you! Boo.
Congrats! I love NPR.

I hate when people say "for all intensive purposes." I also hate when people write "thru," "nite" or any bastardized shortened word in formal letters. (Fine, whatever, if you are texting, but I've seen it in office memos.)

Probably too late to chime in.. but I absolutely HATE it when people say "I seen her" or any variation with "I seen". It seems to be regional.. but it BUGS ME!!!

Oh.. and CONGRATS!! I"m so thrilled for you!

Awww, shucks. Thank you for kind words!

I felt like such a doofus. Since "begging the question" is such a logical idea (circular reasoning) I found it very difficult to explain, and apparently someone else thought I was confusing, too, so now I feel all sorts of self-conscious. (Not to mention, I have a sore throat and was up coughing half the night-- that didn't help the situation.)

I should have just quoted from Jenna's book, Words You Thought You Knew. Ah well. Live and learn.

And I didn't get to discuss anything else related to grammar. Thanks for everyone's suggestions, though! I was looking forward to mentioning one of my favorite peeves: nauseous vs. nauseated. :)

For those interested in a clearer definition (if you think logic can get any clearer), visit the latest entry on my blog.

And thanks again for your support and friendship here at AW. I love you guys! :Hug2:

And yes, if you really want to listen to me talk myself in circles with my sore throat and all, here's the link. ;)

OMG...I am so sorry that I missed it. I will have to listen to the podcast. I definetely had one for you "upped" as in "The Fed upped the interested rate." But, 'tis too late.
Congrats though, that's awesome. I bow before thee. ;)

Thank you! :)

In addition to the podcast, you can listen to the segment online.
