I get to work with my original idea. Unfortunately, I lost the first two chapters, but by looking at what I've got, I can recall what happened in the beginning. Isn't that cool?

That is cool! A couple months back I found the notebook I used back in 6th grade to start a novel. It wasn't so great...but it was really fun to see how it all started. Maybe one day I'll type it up, finish it, and see what I can do with it...the idea's not half bad...lol

I am retyping it. Well, trying. Hard to do with a dog following me every place I go.

The coolest part is your attitude. It really sucks to lose part of a manuscript, but it has happened to everyone. Some folks curl up in a fetal position. You have enough confidence in knowing your story to call it back up in your head and write it down again. Kudos.
And the best part is that those first two chapters are going to come out even better than they were because you're really on your second draft. Good luck.

I keep all my old stories and poems, even pictures of character's I've drawn. I have my very first attempt at a novel...I was eight...it was about and evil gardener.

An evil gardener?
Nice idea--but can I say, without offending you, that you must have been a weird kid?

Last summer I dug out the first novel I ever finished (about 5 years ago), dusted it off, and decided while it had MAJOR flaws, I still really liked the MCs and could figure out a way to work on the plot.
Six months later, I sold it to The Wild Rose Press, and it's been on the top of their Contemporary Line best-selling list for the last 3 weeks.
And I just realized that sounded really snobby:tongue, but I didn't mean it to...I just wanted to say that yes, the magic of those first stories has great pull and potential, sometimes.

Not snobby at all, Allie. The kind of story we like to hear. Congrats.
