A funny thing I just saw about Juno.
I went to a review site (what is it with my obsession with film reviews?) and saw that the critics adored Juno, but the users found it to be...lacking.
Doesn't matter what it is -- music, film, books -- if you look at critical reviews and real-people reviews they're often at odds. Re: Juno, I saw the words "mediocre," "crap," "piece of crap," and the like. That often seems to be the case. Seems as if critics love a movie, real folks often don't -- and not only do they not like it, they usually are so far to the other end of the extreme that it's almost like they're striving to tear the movie apart.
(This works in reverse, too, especially with film. There are movies that regular moviegoers love and that critics trash. But it seems to happen more often on the other end of the spectrum, where you get these award-winning, critically-praised films that your average Joe hates with a bloodthirsty, inexplicable passion.)
Why is this, do you think?
Okay, way off topic now. Back to your regularly scheduled program.
