:( Okay so beyond the music I just know from "What's Love Got To Do With It", but...

Even if he was a cake-shoving wife-beater, well, the music's still good. It does make me oddly sad. His passing I mean.

I think his most significant legacy was the strength which other women derived from Tina's example of leaving him. About fifteen years ago I became close friends with an older African American woman at work and she shared about how her husband used to beat her severely, but she became inspired by Tina's example of leaving Ike and found the strength to leave her own husband. Viva la Tina.

That's cool, Jay.

There was such a dichotomy to him; gifted musician and cruel bastid. As evil as he was to Tina, the music they created together was some of the most memorable ever recorded. The Tina Turner we know and love today is a product of his influence on her, good and bad.

I know what you mean. It's the passing of another icon of one of the greatest eras in rock 'n roll. That makes me feel a little sad too.

Ike and Tina -- when they were good, they were great.
(volume is really low)
