Hey people!

I just got an e-mail today to become a beta tester for Sophocles 2005. This little program is GREAT! Are there any other Sophocles users here? Did you get the e-mail?

I would like to know what other programs you all use and what features it got. Why would you recomend it?

So far this one has features not only to write your script, but also to keep a budget on the movie, shooting schedule and other stuff.

I never used First Draft, is it good?

but i'm only concentrating on the writing part. I've had final draft, but I find it easier to write in word.

I use scriptbuddy.com.

It's not too fancy and there's a free service, although to export to pdf costs.
Still, it's only $13.50 for three months, and that's only about £7, which is why I use it.
I nearly passed out the first time I put 'screenwriting software' into Amazon.

I use Final Draft. It's a great program, even if I can't stand the way it uses cards instead of a straight list. Particularly font of the superb formatting option, which saves an absolute ton of time.

Richard,
You can change the view from the index cards to a navigator list.

Final Draft is my software of choice.

I also use Final Draft. There are some features that I absolutely adore, others I could do without. (Nothing irritates me more than when you type a character's name wrong, and it goes into the SmartType or whatever its called...then you either have to manually go in and delete it, or risk spelling "Bob" "B-o-o-b" every time because you're not paying attention! lol)

Collabowrite is great, the names database is great...overall I'd definitely recommend it.

I used to use Hollywood Screenwriter because it was cheaper. But now I use Final Draft.

Sophocles is the best, I have just started using it, and it's great. I recommend it.

I'm starting to use Sophocles 2005 Beta and damn it is nice. it has a lot of tools, even for keeping movie budget and shooting schedule. It also has many tools that let you see the relations between characters, character creation wizard and story development tools.

I still havent found a bug yet on the program, but I'll have to check. I don't think I'll use another software, which reminds me one thing that one of my mentors told me once. The best "word processor" or writing program in the market is... the one that you learn to work with. In this case for me is Sophocles

Anyway, I'll let you guys know what else I'll find with this program later.

BTW Pantuflas... like your nick. żDe donde eres? his nick means "The flip-flops of your mom" :)

i purchased final draft 7 a year ago. it was such a flawed product that i ended up chucking it and getting a reduced charge on movie magic. they ran a ' are you pissed off at final draft promotion.

never used oe before but i kind of like how it works. what i'm upset about is i still have to write, they don't do the writing for you.

I "won" a copy of MM2000 as a consolation prize draw in a contest a couple of years ago, it's pretty slick and very adjustable, and user support is outstanding. Before that I was using MS Word, with alt-keys set up with various styles. I've since test-driven the FD and Sophocles demos -- started and worked on a couple of scripts in each -- and found them functional. So I can't throw stones at any software package, but I know which one I personally like best.
