You can try Martindale.com, and choose "intellectual property" as the subject matter if you're looking for review of a literary contract.

I think the Mass. Bar Association has a referral service. Just checked -- here's the website: http://www.massbar.org/public-and-community-services/need-a-lawyer

There may be a few literary lawyers in Boston, but I wouldn't count on finding them anywhere else (outside of NY, I mean). The typical lawyer who may be experienced with other types of contracts won't have a clue about a publishing contract or industry norms.

JD, not giving individual legal advice, just general information.

Beware of google searches for this, though. There are a LOT of websites that are basically just advertising for any lawyer who wants to sign up, and I don't even know if anyone is checking to make sure the lawyer is a member of the bar and in good standing.

Martindale-Hubbell is legit, and state bar referrals are legit, but some of the others seem like the lawyer-directory equivalent of the writing world's "Yet Another Display Site" (as Uncle Jim dubs them).

www.lawyers.com is also managed through Lexis Nexis, which is a legitimate legal and business research company.

Either way, any name you get from an internet check should also be checked through the local bar assocation and the better business bureau.
