Fess up, which was your favorite? Which would you like to see more of in a longer-length story?

Please no obvious plugs for your own work to keep it fair. :D

I quite like Contest entry 1 Mr. Beazly and the Smelly Gym Socks. I find it to be extremely humorous, and a well thought piece in terms of it's natural sentence structure and flow. :D

Narf! Zort!

I like #1. It was a lot of fun. Good work whoever you are!

Mr. Beazly did make me laugh.

A couple of them didn't seem to have anything to do with lockers...at least that I saw....

5 and 6 had really good character development. I enjoyed reading all of them, there are some very talented writers who submitted to this contest. :) Nice work everyone!

getting there, 500 words at a time
As is clear from my button (!) I'm an entrant so won't be voting... but I just want to say well done to all... I'm surprised at how vulnerable I feel after putting my work up, literally for a public vote... so well done everyone and spiked egg nog lattes for all!! (I've been hanging around the coffee house of pain too :))

Thanks speirbhean and thanks to everyone who voted!

It was a lot of fun to write. I've been locked into my WIP for so long now, it was just a great experience to write from a prompt like that, a good exercise-- and to get support from the great people on these boards is an awesome bonus!

thanks

Oh yes, and thank you wyntermoon for organizing this contest. I didn't want to forget to say that, and yet I did.

Congrats to everyone who entered and did so well. For the amount of time I spent on mine, I never expected to tie for third! I think everyone did well and a big kudos to wyntermoon and I hope we have another one some time.

Y'all did a fantastic job and I'm so pleased we had a great turnout for our first contest!

Next question... anyone up for round two?

I'm contemplating bi-monthly contests for this board if there is an interest. What kind of themes would you like to see explored? Picture books? Query letters? Magazine fillers? Best pitch to an agent?

plotting on another planet . . .
Love it!

I think it's a great idea to do every month or two. I liked the way you did it this last time--a topic and we get to pick our genre. It might be fun to get suggestions for topics.

I'm up for round two! I, too, would prefer topics because not all of us write picture books or magazine filler, but if we have our topic, we can tweak it to our genre and it leaves open more possibilities and a broader scope of topics it could be on.

Just wanted to say congrats to everyone who submitted. It was so much fun to read these great entries! I think another contest is a great idea. Maybe a lesson, or moral as a theme would be fun.
