I've recently finished up drafts of several short stories and my first novel--ever! I'm excited about all of this but I really I think I need the helpful eye of a beta reader to get my work into (hopefully) publishable shape.

I write primarily horror/thriller/dark fiction, however the novel is more in the mystery realm.

I'm looking for someone that would also like their work critiqued, but if you're willing to just give my writing a go even though you don't have anything for me to critique, I'd appreciate that as well. First up would be some short stories. I've polished them up quite a bit, but I want a second opinion.

Thanks so much for your help!

Best,
Brenda

I am game if you are willing to assist me as well. I am in the process of finishing my first fantasy novel and feel I need a writing buddy/beta reader to have a second feel and improve my piece. Regards EN

Hi Brenda,

I've also got a few short stories that I would like critiqued. I'll be happy to work with you since you've promised the same.

I would like a crit as well. My piece is 7000 words and counting. You can send me a PM if you have the time to read it. I could use an audience

Branwyn, my suggestion would be to use the SYW forum as a place to sound out likeminded people for a Crit group. Post sections of your work and see who gives you good comments. Make sure to crit other people's work too, so that they know they're going to get good value from you. Then PM whoever you'd like to be in a group with and see who bites.
