I'd like to hear what people think about their local Christian radio station(s). What do you like about it? What would you change about it? Do they (or their website) offer funny or interesting gems and tidbits?

Our local radio station in Minneapolis, is KTIS. One station. They have an AM station but I can't pick it up. I wish I could because they put all of the Bible teaching programs on the AM station. FM is all music. It's a station that was started, I believe, with the involvement of Billy Graham. It's been struggling a lot lately. It's 100% listener funded. Lately, they've been making, and remaking, decisions, trying to find themselves again. It's been a struggle for all, including listeners, but I hope they find it soon.

While I'm not particularly fond of the station as a whole, they're the only Christian station, so I pray for them and tough it out. I've gotten to the point that I don't enjoy any other radio stations anymore. Not even country, and I'm very country. There are SO many commercials for one thing! For another, I've gotten addicted to the love of God that eminates from Christian music. I'm so sick of negativity, dumb humor and sexual inuendos in music.

I'll find other things to post, but, I found this on KTIS's website and thought others might get a kick out of it! One of the female DJs said she made the following stuffing recipe and it was a huge hit! Her dad absolutely loved it until he found out it was made from White Castle Hamburgers! LOL

White Castle Stuffing

10 White Castle hamburgers,
Pickle removed
1 1/2 c Celery, diced
1 1/4 ts Ground thyme
1 1/2 ts Ground sage
3/4 ts Coarse ground black pepper
1/4 c Chicken broth

In a large mixing bowl, tear the White Castle
hamburgers into pieces and add diced celery and
seasonings. Toss and add chicken broth. Toss well.
Stuff cavity of turkey just before roasting. Makes
about 9 cups (enough for 10-12 lb bird).

NOTE: Allow 1 White Castle hamburger for each pound of
turkey, which will be the equivilent of 3/4 cup
stuffing per pound.

I have a background working in radio - before I freelanced full-time. While I enjoy the local Christian station, I have some personal issues. After working for 8 plus years in commercial broadcasting, I went to see if I could work for the local Christian station. THey were so happy to have me except they could not pay me anything. I worked ten to twelve hour shifts with no backup, no other employees, and got nothing but a couple of coupons good for a Wendy's hamburger. I was between jobs at the time - about fifteen years ago - and the Christian station asked me if I would make what they called a step out in faith and work for them full-time. I could not and did not do that - I was single and self-supporting. I HAD to pay the rent, buy groceries, pay my bills, etc. and I have always thought that it was unfair to expect anyone to work for nothing.

I have no idea if this holds true with other Christian stations but it's something that comes to mind whenever I listen to Christian radio, wondering if that person on the air is getting paid at all or if it is all "volunteer" work.

My local Christian radio station broadcasts very little that has anything to do with Christianity- indeed, most of what they spew is just plain blasphemous. I don't listen to the radio at all anymore- just CD's.
