I'm writing an article about it never being too late to stop a wedding. I cancelled my wedding (to my now ex-husband--I should have listened to my instincts) three days before the wedding was to take place. Every thing was set including people who flew in from other states.

I'm looking for a few quotes from people to possibly add into the article if you don't mind.

Thanks

I haven't called off a wedding - but my cousin's would-be bride called off their wedding on the planned wedding day, so late that my grandmother (also grandmother of the groom) showed up at the church with gift in hand only to be told by the minster's wife that the wedding was off.

I also knew someone in my community who walked down the aisle and then turned around to face the guests and said "I'm sorry, everyone, but I just can't do this" and walked off.

I can't be sure of the veracity, but, my sister told me of a friend who was the bride to be and found out the groom was having an affair with the maid of Honor, as late as the night before the wedding. At the altar she waited until the priest said, "...any objections..." and she turned around and announced to the church, "This is the happiest day of my life because I just dodged a bullet. I found out in the nick of time, that these two are sleeping together (pointing at the two). Keep your presents. The reception is paid for, so let's go party!"

My wife is from the West of Ireland and she knew personally a couple who had married because the husband was the best man at the wedding. The groom failed to show up at the church so he, the best man, married the bride. They had 10 kids

I called off my wedding a month or so prior to the day after finding out that my loving ex was cheating.

Why the heck would you want to MARRY someone when you're SLEEPING with someone else?

It still baffles me.

I called off a wedding the night before. I found out he was sleeping with my cousin. I went undercover myself when I suspected something. Well fortunatly I had a friend that worked in the motel at which they "played" at and the look on their faces remain priceless when I opened the door.
