Well, the book is done. Edited to my satisfaction. Correct Formatting. Paper and envelopes all purchased. Agents that I want to contact targeted, with secondary list of Publishers if said agents are reluctant to take the first timer on. Everything done EXCEPT - Oh my heavens. Now comes the query letter and synopsis.
Is there any published writer out there with sympathy and a little extra time to read two, count 'em, two query letters and a synopsis? Just to make sure I did them correctly? Give me the benefit of their wisdom before I throw my little MS into the waters of attempted publication? I would heap blessings on your children (and offer you a place to kip if you're ever in Germany) ??? Puh-lease?

I know this post is a little late, but I'll read your query letters if you like. I'm publishedf and I'm told that I write killer query/proposal letters.

The less an editor has to read the better. Keep it really short and sweet, don't include loads of personal details, a resume or tales of market research etc etc. A simple 'Here's my book, please consider it for publication' is fine. There's nothing you can write in a query letter that will make anyone buy your work if it isn't good enough to publish. A synopsis - OK, but as short as you can make it without it being really sketchy.
