I've been pretty mum about something, other than hints here and there. But now that it's been made official at the quarterly RWA meeting, I can officially announce that I've been named the chairman (yes, that's the proper term) of the National Strategic Advisory Committee!
This is a brand new committee within RWA, and replaces the old Long Range Planning Committee. The current, tiny mention in the Bylaws states:
Now, what this means is still conceptual (read: vague...
), but as I understand it, my marching order from the new President is that the committee will work with the Strategic Plan, identify problem areas and strengths, and various potential opportunities for the organization that might arise from that Plan.
So, I will be starting to look for committee members to serve with me---drawn from all aspects of the membership (print published, unpublished and epublished). Keep in mind that I applied for this position after the epub kerfuffle at National, so looking toward the future of the various methods to produce a book will be one of the primary things I want to look at.
Anyone interested, please contact me but understand that the seats on the committee aren't unlimited. I'll have to pick and choose from all volunteers. Thanks, and stay tuned!
