Absolutely no offense to the person who bumped this thread, but I just wanted to remove this original post for now. It may return in part later.

RIP Zoomer. 1987-2007.

:Hug2:Christina, I'm so very sorry to hear about Zoomer and her colt. I know there are not any words to say that will take away your pain and loss. I do feel for you. A little over a month ago someone hit my dog with a car and just drove off. I was so grateful that he was ok and lived. It made me think about how much I love him and need him in my life.....he's a part of me. She had a great mother and I'm sure she knows that. One day when it's your turn to travel that big pasture in the sky, I'm sure Zoomer will be one of the first loved ones to greet you and give you a big kiss. Hugs

Thank you everyone. Joyce, I'm glad your dog is okay. Give him an extra hug for being such a survivor.

I will complete a play this year! I will!
Christina, I'm very sorry that happened. Sounds like you were very lucky to have Zoomer.

All I have is a goldfish, so maybe I'll just go talk to him.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thank you again.

I forgot to tell you all what a brave and stoic mare she was. Even the vets said she was unbelievably strong.

She was beautiful through and through.

My little girl was at a boarding stable during her pregnancy. The lady in charge saw she was eating and knew she wouldn't foal, so she left her in the pasture. Next morning, she and her baby were relaxing out there just as pretty as you please with two teenaged mares standing guard like it was a virgin birth or something.

Sorry to hear about Zoomer, Christina, so I thought I'd throw in a tale with no heartbreak.

Oh, and I'm typing with a cat on my lap, as usual. She's purring. She'll turn 8 in February, and I found her at the Hong Kong SPCA. World traveler, in the cabin of a Thai Air flight, while I fed her tuna through the bars of her carrier. Love those pets.

I'm really sorry for your loss. I know how heartbreaking is it to lose an animal. I lost one of my cats three years ago and I still miss him terribly. My heart aches for you (hugs)

Ohhh, I am so sorry. Hold your memories in your heart and she'll stay alive with you there until you are with her again.

PS I know how precious they are and feel your pain. My old girl is winding down. I wrote this a couple of weeks ago & posted it in another forum.

=======================

silken, soft fur
delicate breath
nuzzles on my shoulder
sharing moments
as life winds down

treasured instants
velvety in the mist
of dawn's light
cuddles as gentle
as newborn skin

my heart fills with
the pleasure of love;
a moment
to be reverently
visited for the rest
of my life
and
for the rest of hers

I had to let my 19.5 year old cat rest a couple of months ago. She took 30 seconds or more to lie down since her arthritis was so bad. The night before I took her to the vet, I sat up with her, letting her make the decision, it hurt too bad she told me. That's why she had slept away from me for several days, time for her to go on.

We love our furry companions because they are non-jugdemental, loving, joyous.

Let us be that way for each other too.

I'm so sorry about your horse. I always wanted to learn how to ride, they are just such beautiful animals, but never got the opportunity. I totally understand the dilemma of to be there or not be there, but I think our animals know we love them and that it's not a personal thing if we're not there either by choice or circumstance. As long as they're surrounded by compassionate and caring people when they pass (as I'm sure was the case with your Zoomer, as it was with my Misty) that is all that matters on that.

Thanks MRJ :Hug2: And thanks Terza.

Riding is wonderful therapy, even if my mare is no longer here to carry me around.
