I have been curious to see how the "Chain, Chain, Chain ...." segment would read if we put it together as a collaborative Poem. So... I took a portion of a current page and tacked it together as a communal work of art:

paint his rise in blood,
the many lives left broken
beneath his boot heel
the world becomes so tiny
I slip out the back
seeing death at every turn
rake is in the shed
Crimson leaves wave one last time,
too crisp to hang on
as gravity proves itself
crumb falls to the floor
resting on laurels degrades
manna reeks next day
after heaven's expiry date
bitterness rains down
I drink with relish
the sweet elixir of love
can't rekindle the lost flame
in black eyes, black heart
seen distant role, hidden, start
dull norm, glows slight spark
transforms into rare beauty
wings unfurl for flight
I drop-catch and am soaring
Into heavens Blue
we waved off so many crews
who returned jaded
after some green Irish brew.
Blarney stone kissed back
duplicity became you,
beguiling in black
smoke obscured your expression.
I never knew you.
i never will. your curves are
covered in cold swathes.
darkness became a tunnel
lonliness was mine
popularity was yours
i still don't want you
a quiet place needs your heart
just not within me
magical wit nor reason
creative genius
we marvel at your words, and
that you too are broke
bereft of spiritual coin
in a sacred space.

Thanks to all who contributed to this.
It nearly works as an integral poem but lacks sustained focus.

I was just wondering if we could continue the 5 - 7 syllable alteration of lines and use this space to work on collaborations?

Ok, since the Chain, chain, chain...... is not in Games any more, let us try this:

A poem about "Love" with alternating lines of 5 and 7 syllables. Write as much or as little as one wishes. When this one is finished or assumed finished, We start off on a new topic.

I will start off with.....

When frought with longing
Destroyed by doubt insane love
Lingers in memory

you are always there

I see only you
in the twining of our flesh
you alone are love

Thanks to P.H. Delarran, kdnxdr and ddgryphon for joining in on this one. I think it came out pretty well. I had sort of hoped for another stanza and a really whiz-bang ending. Well maybe that will happen yet. BTW.... It really needs a title. Are any of you three, game for giving it a title? Anyone for a try at another topic??? How about Natural Beauty?

This is the story
of how love begins and ends
of its open road
This is the story
of two who are always one
together in love
this is their mad dream
of flying and of falling
of light and darkness
this is their mad dream
singing in a torn hoarse voice
of hurt and of joy
This is the story
of endless colors that swirl
within their mad dreams
and of yesterdays
and of the shifting present
and of tomorrows
stories, dreams, colors
slow and rapid moments pass
saying we are love

Anyone willing to start us off on a new Collaborative poem?

How about this for some inspiration...

From: Ode to Natual Beauty
By Alan Seeger

..."Spirit of Beauty, whose sweet impulses,
Flung like the rose of dawn across the sea,
Alone can flush the exalted consciousness
With shafts of sensible divinity -- -
Light of the World, essential loveliness:
Him whom the Muse hath made thy votary
Not from her paths and gentle precepture
Shall vulgar ends engage, nor break the spell
That taught him first to feel thy secret charms
And o'er the earth, obedient to their lure,
Their sweet surprise and endless miracle,
To follow ever with insatiate arms.
On summer afternoons,"...

I am always stunned
by the brightness of the sun
and by soft evenings
I drink the wind now
walking beneath ancient trees
trees that knew mankind
centuries before
I would ever touch
their massive shade or measure
their circumference.
They are my touchstone
to a past I've only read
standing in this grove of green
I sense my smallness
and impermanence
wishing for roots, sun and rain
forever touching
the hand of God connecting
bold sky to sweet earth.

I've been thinking of how to add to this poem in a collaboration, but just can't see how I could add anything to it. It is just too complete the way it is.

The sky is open
drenching us in harsh torrents
cast from thick black clouds.
I am dumb with awe;
feeling the wetness slap me,
humbled by this storm,
humbled by beauty,
purified in baptism
I await the calm.

silence announces
dancing sunlight
that escapes through charcoal;
the reassurance of your nearness
brings me present
and I startle how your hair
smells like rain;
was my tempest but a dream?
had my darling flung me
like a maddened leaf
undone?
