Prologues and the synopsis

OK, the recent thread about wether or not your prologue is your hook got me thinking. Do you include the prologue in your synopsis? For me, the prologue tends to be a vital piece of backstory that readers will need later on. Based on that, should it be included in the synopsis? And if yes, then how? From what I've read the synopsis should concentrate on the MC and the main plot. So if the prologue is backstory to the main plot, would it be okay to add something about it?

You should be able to sum up the necessary backstory in a line or two in the synopsis.

"When George was a boy, a traumatic event left him ..."

Something like that. But keep it brief.

That's sort of the point of a synopsis. :)
