hi all,

I need some help with Bible. I'm trying to find the chapter and verse of Isaish on the Ethiopian Jews being taken to Israel via planes as predicted by Isaiah. the Bible that I have has no mention of it. so if anyone willing to help me I would be grateful to them.

it is something like "from the skies they will come and take you to the promised land"

I want the Isaiah chapter and verse and in which version of Bible it is mentioned?

because I see a movie there.

if anyone well versed with Bible them kindly help me out.

I want to write a screenplay on Operation Moses, operation Joshua, and operation Solomon.

regards,

Hi Aceinc1.

I think the passage you're referring to is Isaiah 45:14 (Cush is Ethiopia, or the upper Nile region):

14 This is what the LORD says:
"The products of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush,
and those tall Sabeans—
they will come over to you
and will be yours;
they will trudge behind you,
coming over to you in chains.
They will bow down before you
and plead with you, saying,
'Surely God is with you, and there is no other;
there is no other god.' "

But I don't see any reference to this regarding planes...are you sure you're not thinking of "in chains"?

The closest I found was ISAIH 18:1
Woe to the land shadowed with
buzzing wings,
Which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia,
Which sends ambassadors by sea,
Evin in vessels of reed on the waters, saying,
"Go, swift messengers, to a nation tall and
of smooth of skin,

Re 18:1, the NIV says, "whirring wings" and the note says the word is in reference to locusts...'the land of locusts, along the rivers of Cush.'

Pat,

checked the whirred wings but that is not the one.

Derek,

I went through the google search link, it was a bit helpful.

if fact, it was through google I found about the names of those operations.

ace - i don't know why you think coming here with specific non-screenwriting questions is better than google. i'm sure there's a religious/faith based website that could really help you. you do this so often methinks you should improve your researching skills. for someone with as much education as you have you would think that you would know how to research by now.

that's my opinion and i'm sticking to it. ignore me if you chose to disagree because i don't really care.

I tried my luck completely with Google.

Besides I live in a non-christian country. we follow the "Bhagavad-Gita", "vishnu puran", etcetra, etcetra some of us do follow the Quran also but very few follow "Bible".

since I know a few people here so I thought I could ask you guys.

I live in east, I wanna know the west.

I rarely go with real life events or adaptations.

tell me how many times I have asked for research help?

I will have to ask for adaptations of cold war that is my next. infact there will be two scripts on the same topic.

I wanted one on judgment day. I got it mostly from the net myself.

there was another one on Kashmir but I watched the damn TV for 9 months to get sufficient deails. I got a solid screenplay out of it.

if you are too bothered by me then ignore me.

BTW, I have no problem with you giving me the nagging pain all the way from scriptsecrets.

Dare I suggest that both of you leave your baggage from another message board at the door when you come here. If you "don't really care" then don't really post.

What about just reading Isaiah from beginning to end?

Can be done in a few hours, might yield some other insights useful for the screenplay. The entire old testament deals with the history of the Jews.

In this case (reading Isaiah) it will definitely beat Google.

the sporting capital of the world. Oh! That's Melb
yeah come on Nikee

It's nice to be important but it is also important to be nice.

So be nice.

Good luck ace with your script.

I think there is a story on who wrote the bible and why. But maybe that is my subversive mind

I second the suggestion to simply read Isaiah.

I think you'll find your 'quote' is mis-remembered, however. (It wouldn't be the first bit of Isaiah to be misquoted. The famous 'lion laying down with the lamb' is a quote from Isaiah .. but a misquote. It is actually "The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid .." !)

For a start, the reference to 'the promised land' doesn't occur in Isaiah at all. The phrase isn't a generic term for Israel .. it is used as a translation of 'ha'aretz HaMuvtachat'. There are plenty of other words for 'Israel' that were used instead.

If you want to read Isaiah in something close to the original, see this:
http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt1001.htm
(The Hebrew version is very close to the earliest copies we have .. which date from about 2000 years ago.)

BTW - it is likely that Chapter 40 onwards was written by someone else .. they are a quite different style.

If you want to search for the word 'skies' in common translations, just use a search like this:

http://www.biblegateway.com/keyword/index.php?search=skies&searchtype=all&version1=72&spanbegin=1&spanend=73

Good luck,

Mac
(PS: I think the closest might be:

"..The Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
.. But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

It certainly has Israelites gathering together .. and the word 'fly' ! It would be a very sad stretch to connect it to planes, but I've seen worse..)
