I just saw an ad for a movie adaptation of Stephen King's short story The Mist.

I read this just a few months ago, and really liked it. I can only hope that this movie is more along the lines of Misery, Needful Things, The Shining, etc. than some other less memorable adaptations.

:)

I saw the trailer for it the other day. It looks really good. I like the two lead actors Thomas Jane (Punisher) and Laurie Holden (Silent Hill.) And it's Stephen King so I gotta go see it. :)

Yep, I'm pretty excited about this one. Frank Darabont is directing and wrote the screenplay (at least in part -?). He did the 2 King movies I really enjoyed, so I feel fairly confident it'll be worth the $9 to watch it in the theater. :)

I'm thinking so, too!

Fingers crossed, yeah? LOL

$9?? Sheesh! Movies really have gone up, haven't they? I only go see movies in the theatres if they look worth that much money.

Likewise, which is why I've only seen one in the theater this year. Wish I'd gone to see 300, though.

That said, this one looks really promising so far!

Yeah, it's pretty wretched. I have to be really excited before I'll go these days.

I'll go for this one, though. I wish it could have come out in time for Halloween.

I just hope they don't pepper it with bad Maine accents. That always makes me want to bash my head on the chair back.

Yeah, fingers crossed. Right now I'm a little concerned about the state of the special effects, and hope that's unfounded.

Right. And the previews of The Mist look like its an updated version of The Fog (which had already been updated).

Sorry. Subtlety is lost on me pre-caffeine. :D I have more of a brain now.

I've played the trailer and am pant-wettingly excited, and plan to remain so until the last credits roll.

The mist is WAY more Lovecraftian, I believe. The Fog is a zombie movie, this has 90-story horrors from beyond with writhing young streaming from their bellies.

I've heard very good things, but they've changed the ending. It is now ridiculously depressing, or so I hear. But it is a better ending.

I didn't think The Fog was a zombie movie, it was a ghost movie. Didn't pirates or something come out of the fog?

I've seen some previews of The Mist and though it looks like a rehashing of all sorts of horror movies (things hiding in the fog or mist or dark) it does look like it has some good acting and well-done direction.
