I'd just posted a thread on "who else stresses during the waiting process?"

I loved your comments and encouragements, and sympathies, and even the "Get over it" comments, but as I was getting ready to address them all, I realized so much has happened since last night that I figure I'll start my answers on a new thread.

I've been asked to not discuss certain details until contracts are signed. But an executive movie producer loves my story and thinks it will make a great movie - series. They asked if I'd be willing to change one character's name, which I said I am, and there are a few grammar errors, but the story is there, and they want it.

There was also a publishing deal on the table at the same time. So it looks like my first book will be pulished this coming summer.

I can't tell you what a relief this is. The longer it's taken, the more I've felt everyone would see me as John Nash (A beautiful Mind) with a garage filled with strings and note papers. - He thinks he's an author!- Poor guy lost his mind.

I couldn't tell if we talked for an half hour or 2 hours. I was simply floating. And my wife was giving me the thumbs up sign from across the room.

Well, I'm actually smiling and happy!

In regards to your comments, I can't explain insecurities and why I would get frustrated with rejections, or worry over them. I think part of it was that for a long time, whenever I put my stories aside and came back to them, there were major flaws, and my heart would sink. And I had this feeling like, "Am I ever going to get this right?"

We may be authors, at whatever phase of the process, but we're never exempt from being human, with all the quirks.
Nate

I was so bold as to tell some of the people I wanted to play certain parts, and mentioned Clive Owen, Jeremy Irons, and Viggo Mortenson (who wouldn't appear until the second movie). And I said, "That is if we can get Viggo..."

They know Viggo from having worked with him before and said that was a possibility. But all in all it was a rather heady conversation about web pages and illustrations...

I'm like, "Well, can I take out your garbage or do your dishes or something in repayment..."

Wow! That's so exciting! Congratulations! Not to over-do the exclamation points, but yay for you!

And Viggo? Hello! I'll see it. And Clive and Jeremy - you picked my trifecta. :)

Well, when I said, "Viggo if we could ever get him to consider it..." they sounded like that would be possible. I told them that if we can get these in the cast, then a lot of positive things will happen, in terms of people throwing their names in the ring.

But as it is, Viggo wouldn't appear until the second story.

Cool news. I've said it once and I'll say it again, I've been through this door, just don't even think about spending the money until the check clears. :)
