Whenever my PM box gets full, I start deleting PMs. Some I wish I could have kept over the years, so deleting is often a hard decision.

Now I just noticed that besides deleting option there's a Save as XML, CVS?, and Text option.

Has that always been there? Can I actually, somehow, save my PMs as text onto my computer?

How does that work?

Thanks.

Yes it has always been there since I became a member.

Put a check in the box to the far right of the message, scroll down, choose download as Text and click Go.

The email should pull up in Notepad, so browse to your hard drive, create a folder for AW messages and save there.

Hope you don't mind, I edited the subject line so members with the same problem might easily find the solution.

Sorry you've lost some PMs, Ferret. Those save options are kinda tucked away at the bottom of the screen.

The CVS option allows you to import the exported PMs into an Excel file, or other other spreadsheet; sometimes it gets a bit wonky, so i'd try the .txt version. XML is best used by über geeks with a database designed for PM xml structures.

He is. Pretty sure. Tough to tell with poets though. They're allatime looking inscrutably mystical. Or dyspeptic. Anyway, pretty darn tough to figure out.

Not mods, per se, no.

It is technically possible to rebuild the underlying database from backups and table dumps, but it's a huge PITA, and might not work even then.

So take that as a No.

Um. Thanks. I really didn't mean that about the mods.

What is a PM and why should I be worried about its size?
