I didn't hear the story, but I found this article on NPR's site about soul cakes, their origin, and a recipe. The piece was pretty well-balanced, talking about the history of soul cakes. Just thought it was neat that someone did a story on Samhain rather than the typical 'evils of Halloween' story seen so much these days. Since I'm not much of a cook, I'll just pass this on to those who are more crafty or Crafty than me; guess I'll just leave out some Little Debbie snack cakes for restless spirits until I get the hang of baking without the smoke alarm. However, I can do the recipe for pumpkin juice; sounds tasty!
