Dealing with alien mental dialog

Just posted a question to the Grammar for Grasshoppers thread regarding dealing with an alien that has no hearing. All perceptions, communication are mental. How do I set his voice apart? Please jump like a grasshopper to GforG forum for full question with excerpt. Thanks mucho.

Um, maybe you want to look at signed languages.
There are a lot of humans who have no hearing. They communicate just fine, using visual/spatial stuff, and their perceptions are pretty physical, just like the rest of us

Ahh, I'm having a similar problem with a race with no mouths. I've sorted out eating, but was looking for something a bit less cliched than telepathy. Signing could work.
