In your closet with the Boogeyman's corpse!
Since we're all in the horror forum, most of us may write or just simply like scary things. I wrote a post in regards to this on my blog near the end of August. My question is, what scares you?

We all have things that we're afraid of, whether they be animals, the dark, lightning, the monster under your bed (yes, he's really there!), gas prices, etc. This is why the horror genre is so hard to define because an array of things can scare different people.

Are you afraid of monsters? Humans? Again, what scares you? :e2thud:

Probably my own brain. I often "see" things that aren't there when I'm in the dark or imagine a horrible face pressed up against the storm door when I turn on the light. The dark feeds my imagination and it runs away with itself. Now if I could just pen that to paper...

Hah. No way I'm telling you lot.

I can see me skipping merrily to the mailbox, spotting the plain brown paper with spidery writing I can barely read. It's from RllngThndr. How touching!

I scamper merrily in doors and peel back the skin with smile of anticipation and OUT BOILS FROGS! HORRIBLE BROWN, SLIMY FROGS AND TOADS!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Whew.

No way I'm telling you people.

Thank goodness for that, SM, I'd never be able to get enough postage stuck to Rllg to send him. He keeps licking all the glue off.

I am not a fan of rats or anything that will enter my ear and chew my brains out. No sirree.

A dark, evil place.
It's not so much that it scares me, but I'm fascinated with death, and that's probably reflected in some of my stories.

there is only one thing in the world that scares me and that is when I look down and see a face staring back at me out of me ear, nose and throat aspic. It is usually screaming and has its hands pressed up against the jelly-ah a frightening sight to be sure-well there might be one more thing and that would be humans. Nothing like a good human to scare the shit out of you is there?

Most of my fears center around the incompetencies of our so-called political leaders. Maybe my fear is general stupidity when the answers are in plain sight.

Donna,
Exactly. I can think of so many stories just from the dark. I love the dark though...

SoccerMom,
Two of my cooworkers are afraid of frogs as well. They just don't bother me; I guess because I live in the country and it's nothing to have one wait on the steps for you...heh...

Wynter,
Rat...ewww!

Haggis,
I'm fascinated with it as well...hmmm...

David,
Yes humans are scary...

Grump,
I agree about the political leaders---very scary...

Anyone messing with my brain--hypnotists, mind-control drugs, etc.

THIS TOTALLY ABSOLUTELY FREAKS ME OUT!!!

(So much so that I don't add it to my horror fiction.)

On a more mundane level, spiders. The only good spider is a dead spider. Even the garden spiders with the Scary Yellow Markings we get--they ead mosquitopes, so I know in my head they're good spiders, but... Someone hand me a large, heavy shoe, please?

I have a serious distaste for all things 8-legged, but the only thing that truly scares me is ignorance.

Oh, and that neighbor with the axe and the odd eye tick. Especially when I find him at the window, staring at my house.
