What are these? WHat does it do? How's it work? What's it for?

In other words, I just noticed this while I was turning off signatures (I've been noticing more and more people's signatures are getting to be 6, 7, 8 feet long and I find it annoying), so what exactly is it?

In short, it's an electronic business card, often attached to email messages - I've especially noticed them from people using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express. I find them rather useless.

The standard Internet "signature" is (or was, many years ago) by convention/Netiquette a maximum of four lines long, but most people on the InterWeb now haven't even heard of Netiquette...the rule here on AW seems to be "be reasonable and don't have to many big, amimated GIF's..."
