I'm finally getting back to the book I started planning in March, before the summer melted my brain, and I'm in need of people who worked in a casino.
My character works in a hard-count room, and while I've been able to find out quite a bit about what the job involves, there's some gaps in my research.
Where would the count rooms be located in a casino? Beyond the cashier cage? Down a long, dark hallway, past admin offices? Two stories under the earth, accessible only by a secret elevator, and only if you know the secret handshake?
How many people would work a shift in the count room? I'd like there to be two or three people on shift, plus a supervisor. For a meduim-sized casino, is this plausable?
And if anyone can throw me some insider lingo (with cilvilian definitions, please), I'd appreciate it. My background is in the restaurant biz, but I really don't want my MC working in one. He'll probably have pals who do, though, so I can use all my insider lingo from that field.
Thanks!
