shh... I'm thinking...
Does one capitalize when referring to a month, such as fall? Fall?

Easy enough, eh? I feel like I should know the answer, but it's late and I'm uber tired. Double-bonus points (or a good rep, at least) for the first respondent. Please don't lead me astray...

I would capitalize most of the time for clarity, e.g. The baby arrived in the Fall. The caps makes it clear, unless the heroine had a bad fall.

You don't capitalize seasons, such as autumn, but you do capitalize months. However, and I know you're tired, fall is not a month.

Just to be picky, I'd say use autumn over fall anyway. Too many chances to get confused about what you mean.

And one does capitalize months.

Anyway, I found this in my Elements of Grammar:

Capitalize seasons if they are personified.

If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?
-Percy Bysshe Shelley

We are going into spring.

Month capilization was never a question I had; I got that covered. ;)

I think I will change my fall to autumn... sounds better. Thanks ferret!
