Hi, guys. Because I am mostly a children's author, I am not accustomed to the normal wait length for adult manuscripts. My agent is sending out my devotional book of about 22,000 words next week. Once something hits an editors desk, how long do you guys expect to wait?

Thanks, guys!

Signed,

Brookie . . . totally lost children's writer thrown into the scary world of adult genre! ; )

A minute to a year and I am not being flippant.
Most manuscripts need to be circulated through the house and be approved by other editors not just one unless they think it might be hot -

What Patricia said.

If it's really bad, a minute. (Once they get to it.)
If it's not something to rule out in a minute, probably a week.
If it's something they really like, could be quite a long time.

If they don't give you turnaround times on their website then unfortunately it's hard to estimate but several months isn't out of the ordinary.

Thank you so much for answering everyone. Very helpful information, indeed. What would I do without you guys? =)

God bless you all today!
