Mrs. Giggles absolutely isn't fading. The woman reads a ton and reviews a hell of a lot of them. I live for the day I'll get a 94 or better from her.

I enjoy Mrs. Giggles entertaining book reports. However, i have found that her ratings don't match my own. After getting and reading many of the books she rated in the high 90's or "keepers", i found them to be lacking and not highly rateable in the least.

But she's a great writer, nonetheless.

I'm not sure I understand Mrs Giggles' ratings. She's fun to read, but the nature of the whole thing is uneven. I was a little surporised that such a low percentage of ebooks & pod books recieved low scores; I would have expected the opposite to be true.

Because ebooks are inherently not as good as print books...?

I always check out reviews at All About Romance and The Romance Reader.

My favorite is the review which noted that on page 3 of a novel, the hero rode his "spirited black stallion" down the road. On page 6, the hero was with a "big gray gelding" instead.

The reviewer commented, "I can certainly see why [the horse] was no longer so spirited."

Brenda Hiatt doesn't seem to have a blog, but rather a highly informative Show Me the Money entry that gives info on advances from various publishers.

How interesting (snerk) that PubliSHAMerica is not listed! I thought they were a publisher. They keep telling people that. A lot.

I wanted to post the above blog on the forum but was unsure what thread is the most appropriate. It covers large and small press & e-books.

While it's really cool to discuss the creative side of writing, we all need a solid grounding on the business end just to keep from getting lost! (Or cheated.)
