Sounds like a real opportunity! :D

(Actually, it's not him, it's a company called Great Ideas Entertainment that has done past deals with him. But I couldn't resist!)

You have to read these things carefully. What they're saying is this.

You pay 75 dollars to enter.

The top three winners are going to be sent "Edge Entertainment" (or whatever it's called -- not Uwe Boll's company) -- for them *to consider.*

That's all.

The best you could possibly get is paying 75 dollars for the chance to have one single company consider your screenplay.

With a little work and some phone calls you could probably get thirty companies at the same level as Edge to consider your screenplay and it would only run you the cost of copies and postage.

Something to think about.

And here's one of my posts from that thread where I replied to a few of the comments about "Alone in the Dark."

I rented it a few years back. It was just dumb.

It started off with what seems like three entire minutes of some really lame narrator-delivered back-story with a montage of past events concerning some secret government experiment gone awry and some underground tunnels connecting the lab with a little cabin out in the woods. And something about little orphan children screaming in the night as they are plucked from their beds at the orphanage and taken to the lab to be experimented upon. They tried to make it all very creepy with dark shadows and sinsiter music.

After all that dumb dumb lame-o back story, the film began and it had NO BEARING AT ALL on all that narrated stuff we just sat through for three whole minutes!

And then there was this female archeologist and then Christian Slater. And then, for some reason that utterly escaped me, we suddenly had a monster running around. And he wasn't even a very interesting monster.

I kept waiting to see when the cabin in the woods and the underground tunnels were going to swing back into the plot again. I kept waiting for them to discover the horror of children having been experimented upon. They didn't. Not one thread of any of the narrated stuff ever made its way into the rest of the film. It was all very painful to endure.

I felt so badly for Christian Slater.

Mr. Boll is a writer/director/producer who seems to have earned himself a reputation for making awful* low budget movies, some adapted from computer games. Check out his filmography on imdb.com:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0093051/

* going by what I've read. I don't think I've seen any of his films.

So, yeah, if anybody needs any help, I think I still have my Atari 2600 version of "Pac-Man" lying around somewhere...

What attracts you to Pac Man's story? What obstacle(s) must he overcome? What's his character arc?

I recently saw House of The Dead (don't ask) which was intercut with footage taken from the game. In more than one scene, the film abandons all traditional attempts at storytelling and instead shows the POV of its characters as they walk along darkened corridors and graveyards, shooting zombies as they appear from left and right.

Technically, the film was well-made. Unfortunately, that made it dull as hell.

He is, however, (and according to others) a savy businessman who utlisies the unique system of German government-subsidised filmmaking to its full potential. I know that's my dream.

Pac Man, could be searching for Mrs Pac Man who has been taken by the ghosts into the haunted hideout. There she is being forced to tell of Pac-Man's homeland as the ghosts and once and forall take over the kingdom where they once laid claim.
It is basically a romantic movie with an action hero twist.
I personally like the idea, think we should run this into a fun challenge for us all.....10 page script.

I can't remember who owns the Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man copyrights, is it Namco or maybe Atari? But I'm not gonna mess around with it. Pardon my cowardice.

I've no problem with fun challenges featuring explosions and gore as a general concept. :)
