I've just finished Octavia Butler's "Wild Seed" and I feel like I want to cry. Normaly a story about slavery, history, no real good vs evil conflict would not interest me, but I read this book in three days. I'm a slow reader, ususally it takes me aweek or two or sometimes longer to finish a book, but three days! I loved it, it was so fasinating. I hated Doro until the end, then I felt sorry for him, his lonliness. But I was in love with Anyanwu the whole time. She was so beautiful, so heart warming, so caring, I wish she could be real lol.
The only thing I didn't like what not knowing exactly what Doro really was. And he seemed to be too God-like, I mean he had to have a weakness right? Man was he such a jerk untilk the end. Although the taking over of bodies was really neat, I wish he could do it to me like he did to Anyanwu, you know, show you what it would feel like, except not kill me
And now, as I go online, I discovered Butler is dead!!! I wanted to see if I could email her or something, I have never been moved by a story like this, but she passed away. May she rest in peace in the next life.
