The grand giveaway: opening lines

Let's be generous. Give others your opening lines (no wrapping required) they can use in their own work. Be giving.

Here's one:

Tired and groggy, Rebecca sipped her coffee and contemplated how to kill her husband that morning.

Two lines;

Hey cranky...I could take one of these opening lines and crank out a novel from it in a couple of weeks. Then would the creator of the line still be so giving?

You're welcome to use mine...I doubt you'd keep it, though. You'd end up finding something you liked better, I bet.
