Hi,

An agent requested a part manuscript of one of my novels a few weeks ago. Now, I know it could take a while for the agent to get back to me, either rejecting it or requesting the whole manuscript. That is not the problem; I am quite prepared to wait a few months for an answer. My dilemma is that I have another novel, edited and ready to go out on the great agent hunt. Now, I personally don’t think it would be correct, or very good business sense, to submit this new novel to other agents until I hear from the agent that has the part manuscript of my other novel.

I just wanted to sound out other opinions with regards to this matter.

It's perfectly all right to sub to other agents. Your book (either one) is not on exclusive. You can definitely sub 2 books at once, but I wouldn't hit the same targets in a row, nor would I sub a second time to the agent that currently has the partial.

It is perfectly fine to submit different projects (even the same one if you did not grant an exclusive) to various agents - In fact I would encourage you to do so. I ordinarily sent queries out in batches of 5 to 10 and with LOTTERY even had several fulls out at the same time.
