a topic people love to talk about. and the women over 40/JFoster issue has prompted me to start this thread.
positive and progressive trends - what a wannabe needs to know
the latest biggest trend for women over 40 is television: kyra sedwich, glenn close, holly hunter, mary louise parker, sally field - all award winning big screen actors who have recently made quite a stir (based on emmy nominations) on the small screen. if you want to write for an a-list woman over 40 take this route. more women over 40 in need: julia roberts, demi moore, kim bassinger, etc... i know there are more but i can't think of them at the moment
in an earlier thread not many people chimed in with who the up and coming actors to write for were so either people aren't writing for them or they don't know who they are. if you know who they are then say so. don't keep them to yourself. okay - i got one more: evan rachel wood
yeah hollywierd can be more successful for the male actor over 40 - but know that many find that one niche and play only that type over and over and over again: bruce willis, harrison ford, sean conery, billy bob thorton, ben affleck (maybe he's not 40 yet but he's already done enough to be a broken record). i used to say most actors will say, "been there, done that" and will reject a script with a character they've seen before but upon further examination i know it's not so black and white.
babble on!
