Okay...so I just tried experimenting on two types of computers and see if maybe, just maybe my muse will cooperate and open up a little......

Well, I used (this, the one I am writing on now) to write a little piece of my story just to see what happened, where I was going since I usually do all my writing on my laptop.

Soooooooooo...the results were just plain awful. I sucked (on this computer.) I didn't feel for anything in that little piece I wrote. I felt as if I just met my characters for the first time, and it was cold. Oh, so very cold.

I think I should stick to the laptop. It's warm over there...

So, has anyone ever done this before??

Not to see if I could write better on another computer--I almost always write on my laptop. It's just not as good on the PC--positioning or something. And longhand feels so first-drafty that I can't do it unless I really need to. Like when I don't have my laptop.

I write mostly long hand but for notes when I'm bored in class, or have some free time when my laptop is nowhere in sight. Other that, my laptop is my number one place to actually wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrite.

I've been writing on my desktop PC alone for the last year or so, and I tried laptop keyboards...they are too small and too close to me.

I like lap dances. My muse is amused when those skimpy characters will entertain me for a small exchange of stuff. We have an agreement not to discuss specifics, but what happens on my laptop stays in my p

'Doesn't matter where I write. Work computer. Home computer. Laptop. Notepad. Napkin. I suck on them all.' ~ now this is just funny. :)

i used to have a laptop that i thought would be great to write on. it wasn't. i wrote maybe five pages and couldn't do it anymore. apparently, comfort isn't very condusive towards stoking the flames of writing desire. i was able to finish a first-draft while standing up while working in a factory, jotting stuff down between parts off the conveyor, and during breaks and lunches in a hard plastic chair. if i'm not feeling lower back pain as a result of this cheap, wobbly Sam's Club piece of crap i'm sitting in, i don't think i'd be anywhere near the same quality source of entertainment and inspiration you've come to know, expect, and admire from me. ahem.

I can write anywhere on anything. Wrote a story on the bus over two days. I write notes at work, sometimes on pieces of wood if I cant get to my notebook. I write longhand, I write on computers. Doesn't matter to me. I think limiting yourself and say I can only write on this, then you are setting yourself up for failure. The fact that you didn't like what you wrote had nothing to do with the computer. THe computer didn't write it, you did. Sometimes we write crap. It happens. We move on.

What he said. My hands get all bunched up and every third letter is a typo (instead of every tenth on the desktop)

I prefer my laptop, because I can change my surroundings. I can write at the local coffee house, my mother-in-laws, etc. Just in case something comes to me, I carry a notebook with me always.

I'm not limited to my laptop, but I have to admit that when I'm on a roll it's easier to type it out then write long hand. My brain goes faster than my hand, but my fingers are always up for the challenge. :D

I've found that I don't write well at the desktop (our house computer). It's in the kitchen and there's always a child, husband, or animal there pestering me. I got a laptop (actually prefer the keyboard) and haul it and the dog off to the dog park for an afternoon of writing. Works for me! The dog thinks I'm kind of losing my mind, though...

I don't know why, but I have an innate paranoia of being too dependent on one form of writing. It spills over into the rest of my life (ideally, if the world goes crash tomorrow, I like to think I'd still be able to get by okay).

How this affects my writing is that I can switch mediums and instruments with ease, and if I come across something that isn't easy, I keep working at it until it works for me. I write comfortably on all manner of computers, I write comfortably long-hand (and I make sure that the material I write longhand is good enough to keep, always, always).

A variety of pens, keyboards, computers, and computer programs. Word, Notepad, Dark Room, Works, Wordperfect, a blog window, and so on. Anything I need. It's a compulsion. It probably says something psychological about me.

I can only write on the computer. Usually the main laptop, but if I e-mail the file to myself, I sometimes will work on it if work is slow. Depends on how many distractions I have!

I find it harder just to open a new blank document to write, but I have, on occasion, when an idea was burning a hole in my brain.

Occasional (rare) scribble on paper if I'm desperate.

I generally use my "MacLappy" because my desktop doesn't work very well in bed.
