I just really love it, you know? Even when I hate it I still love it.

That's all I wanted to say.

Well, I hope you don't mind if I chime in and agree with you.

Yep, love to hate it when I do. And it really doesn't matter whether I love it or hate it at any given time, because I can't stop it anyway.

When my brain is swimming with plotholes and questions (I'm terrible at plotting because I always make it secondary to the chars and idea, until it suddenly turns into a disaster), I feel like there's a little devil with a pitchfork putting me through it. But he's a lovely little fellow nonetheless

Sure do know what you mean. Sometimes I get so fed up with my characters running off on their own and doing their own thing and screwing up my plans that I slam the door to my writing room, threaten to forget the whole thing and leave them to sit on the page with nowhere to go and nothing to say. But I'm weak. And I always go back.

I was driving with a friend of mine who was one of my beta readers and telling her about all the rewrites. When I was writing I threw myself into it, barely any sleep, nightmares and broke out in hives and migraines. Yea, I go a little overboard... I was telling her how I wasn't looking forward to all that again but couldn't WAIT to start the rewrite. She looked at me like I was nuts.

Good post! I get a kind of hunger when I don't write. Which I haven't been doing much lately as I'm working hard to get a couple of projects in place which will subsidise the writing! And it hurts, I really miss it.

I have to carry my notebook with me or else I will have a panic attack.

Well no, not really, but close.

Amen, Sister Christian! It's the best and the absolute worst. Even when I'm banging my head in frustration, there is still nothing else in the world that makes me happier.

Writing is like marriage, in this quote from the Sondheim musical Company:

"Good things get better, bad get worse.
Oops, I think I meant that in reverse."

Great thread and it's so very true. I have a love/hate relationship with my writing as well. Sometimes I can hate it so much that I don't write, which tends to make me hate myself, and I start to feel like I'm existing in life but not actually living. When I'm writing I might be loving or hating it in the moment but it's like finally being able to breath after almost drowning in the ocean. Gasps for air that are devoured with hunger and relished with that screaming sense of "Wow, I survived, I'm alive!"

Ok, I gotta jump in on this one. I love writing too! To be able to create a whole new world and watch the people we create live in it is awesome! I'm still learning the editing and marketing process of writing but I will get the hang of it as I grow as a writer. I haden't gotten this far as a writer before so now I am learning a whole new side of the writing business. Its hard and full of stress, but guess what? I love that too!

I LOVE WRITING!
Thank you!

Amber
