So where can I find out about different writer's conferences? I have searched online, but it's tough to find a source that has them posted in one place.

I posted here because I write chick lit, so if there are any conferences for romances or chick lit, I'd really like to know.

Oh... and my regions RWA chapter isn't until next spring, so that's one not to bother mentioning.

If you're a member of RWA, there's listings of conference for the next couple-three months in each issue of RWR. There's always something going on somewhere that could be of interest.

Other than that, I don't know of any for Romance. You might see if there's a special interest chapter for Chick Lit (I think there is) off the RWA website and see if they have any kind of listing. That would be my only other thought.

Best of luck finding something.

Shaw Guides is a good tip--search them for "Romance" and you'll get a bunch of hits. Some seem to be out of date, or the links don't work, though. You might find more current info by checking out the web pages of chapters within your travel budget.

A lot of them are already done for this year, but what sort of cons are you looking for, mirror? Do you prefer mixed reader/writer ones, or just for writers. Want smaller, intimate cons like chapter conferences, or are you looking for the no-holds-barred gathering of thousands of writers? As far as "romance-only" gatherings, the two biggies are RWA National in July and Romantic Times convention in May-ish. There's also a lot of romance writers at Backspace and ThrillFest. Plus, there are dozens more RWA chapter conferences, and SF/Fantasy conventions that draw those who write paranormal subgenres.

What sort of things do you want at a conference? Agent/editor appointments? Workshops/panels? Reader events like scavenger hunts or games? That might help narrow down the ones we can suggest. :)

agent/editor/writer type stuff.
It doesn't matter that they're not until next spring because I probably won't be done with my manuscript until then anyway.
