As I mentioned in my other thread, I got a request for a full; the person who wrote to me was the agent's assistant, who said she enjoyed the first part of the manuscript and wanted to see the rest; she asked me to send it to her attention at the agency's address. Now, I assume the agent is the one who wants the manuscript, but since the assistant who wrote to me mentioned herself personally, should I be including her in the salutation, addressing the letter to both of them? I know this might be a nitpicky question (or a stupid one), but I don't want to offend anyone.

If the assistant asked for it to be addressed to her attention, it would be rude not to use her name, don't you think? The assistant is the person who is handling your submission now until she passes it on to the agent. Don't piss her off. It doesn't matter if you address to the agent -- the assistant is now the one handling it, and she works for the agent. So make sure you put her name in the salutation.

I would think that she is much more important than the agent is at this point because without her support you don't get to the agent.

Correspondence requested from her should go to her. Thats just my opinion. I don't have any real world experience yet. ;)
