I'm looking for a writing partner to start on a mainstream/contemporary fiction novel, about a group of friends who participate in a national talent competition (think American Idol, only for bands as a whole) together (that's the very, very basic idea, obviously there's a lot more to it than that). I never was good at summarizing ideas, so I'm not going to try, but if you want to know more details, by all means hit me up.

Generally I write scifi and fantasy type stuff, so this is not my area of specialty, but this idea has just stuck with me, which is why I'm looking for a knowledgeable partner to start this project with. If you know a bit about music or playing the guitar, all the better (but again, not really imperative) Here's what I have in mind.

I would like a partner who has been published, preferably in the m/c fiction genre but not necessarily. This would be a serious working partnership; I have a broad idea, but we would flesh out the little details together. I'm really good with the ideas and the big picture editing kind of thing, so if you're a detail oriented grammar Nazi, all the better! I live in Florida, but thanks to the internet, you dont have to ;)

Interested? PM meeee!!!

Most writers, at least once past a first manuscript, have far more ideas for books than time to write them.

Ideas are easy. Writing is hard.

I think what my colleagues are saying is just write the thing.

So what if it's a different genre. Strip away the laser-guns etc. or in this case the amps and roadies, and you have a story about characters on a quest. OK, so it's a quest for rock and roll fame, but at heart, it's about characters, right?

So in fact, if you step outside the genre box, you have written this kinda thing before.

OK, so you don't know a G chord from a bottleneck slide, but come-on, dude, it's just research. Go into a local music store and if you don't find a frustrated musician behind the counter who will be willing to talk your ear off about the "life musical," dollars to donuts they have a message board where you could pin a request for help. Post on craigslist looking for reference. Buy books. Look online...

Visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Check out biographies and autobiographies of rock stars.

Just immerse yourself in the world, then let your characters loose.

Rock on, dude! :Guitar:
