Probably the happiest moment of my "writing" life. Will only be topped when I finally see it in person the 28th of September. If any of you Cali peeps are in the area, give me a heads up and maybe we can meet!

BTW for all you other playwrights... this Atwater Playhouse is a great opportunity. I was lucky enough to win their first ever playwriting contest. I'm sure they'll do it again next year and the founder Jamie is mad cool. So you have close to a year to hone your play. Keep your eyes on his website and good luck!

Well done! I've had 3 theatre pieces published, but getting a production mounted continues to elude me. I live for that moment, and can only imagine how exciting it must be to sit in the audience and see your ideas realized on stage. I salute you.

Hey, Mandy. I just got back from Los Angeles a couple days ago. Saw the play Friday night. Really freaky watching actors perform your own words. Quite an experience watching how actors (and the director) interpret your work. Two of the main characters were played pretty much how I had envisioned them. The other two were played very differently, and at times felt like a different story than what I had written, even though they used the exact dialogue (well, at least 99%) that I had written. It was thrilling and scary at the same time.

I wasn't prepared to see things play out differently, but it worked on stage. The actors were terrific and the crowd seemed to enjoy the play. I was very pleased and very prowd (one of the few times we writers can feel that way, I guess). Now that I've had my cherry popped so to speak, I wonder how the next one will go. A quick bit of advise when you go to see your material performed: be prepared for different interpretations by the actors and director. I'm glad they chose the direction they went in. It worked well and they were marvelous. But now I'm curious to see how my intentions would've worked. probably a good thing I'm a writer, not a director.
