Don't give me any of that bullshit about "First Contact" being a good movie. It wasn't.

Why the hell was Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan the ONLY great Star Trek movie?

Because Ricardo Montalban was shirtless. And buff. (And not old and wrinkly, like he is now.)

Also, Gene Roddenberry was a genius.

Some stuff about conflict and character growth, as well. It was the only movie that didn't rely on the age-old character gags to pull it through, but had actual growth.

Also, there was no Spock dying and coming back to life for no reason whatsoever.

someplace around here, anyone seen my keys?
I think my all time favorite bit in any of the movies was Data singing "Life forms! You tiny little life forms! You precious little life forms! Where are you?" as he was tapping on his comm panel (or whatever it is) from Generations.

When I first saw those movies I was young enough to think they were good. I think to preserve that memory I'm not going to watch them again... lol.

What's the unwritten rule about Even numbered Trek films being better? Odd that 2 refers to an episode of the Original series yet it can be watched by sf fans unfamiliar with Trek. Its that good, and probably my favorite, although my Dad prefers The Voyage Home.

I do think First Contact is the best TNG movie, and but of course, it doesn't stray far from the series. Generations, now that was hogwash.

IV was a fun romp. Back in time, fish out of water premise. City on the Edge of Forever without Joan Collins dying.

With Whales.

And the mom from 7th Heaven.

(Incidentally, wasn't Stephen Collins in the first Trek?)

Well:

I was trying to be seperate from the series.

III and IV were dependant on each other, rather than the series.

V was an odd number (And pants)

After that, they had to buy Uniforms in a bigger size.

After that, they started making Star Trek: The Next Generation; The Movie. (y'know the ones where The Enterprise can't go 90 minutes without blowing up).

Besides, II was the only one to have, as you say, Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!

<Epic-sounding Voice Over>: And so begin years of conflict, known as the Star Trek Wars.

You mean the vast migration of Sci-Fi nerds?

<Epic-sounding Voice Over>: No. That was the Star Wars Trek.

Actually I enjoyed the Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan one. And honestly, I'm a fan of The Shat.

I tease. Put the toy phasers away.

First: First Contact is my favorite. Mmmmh! Trek history! Plus, it was funny!

Then...: WHALES! 'Nuff said.

Edit: I know a girl whose grandma was The Shat's nanny. When she died, he went to the funeral and started handing out autographed pictures to anyone who seemed to recognize him X-D

At least my friend was a Trekkie X-D.

You are not a fan of The Shat, Eye Eye Eye ???

My coworker and I were standing around one day, talking about something, and just as one of his lab workers came in, he'd said: Dammit, Jim! This lab guy, Matt, looked at us funny and asked what that was about. Craig (the co worker) said: You know - Dammit Jim! to which he received a blank stare.

So I say: Okay, Matt, here's the rest of the quote - Dammit, Jim! I'm a doctor, not a magician!

We both get a blank stare.

I said: It's Doctor McCoy. You know, doctor McCoy.

Matt looks at us funny.

From Star Trek, I explained, dumbfounded. You know - Dammit, Jim!

Matt shakes his head and says (i shitz you not) Oh, I've heard of Star Trek, but I've never seen it.

Our jaws are still on the floor.
