Love in the Shower?...

Or your hero is waaaay taller than your heroine - it also gets tricky and the risk of pulled muscles kind of takes away from the heat of the moment!

One of the fun aspects of writing erotic romance is picking a theme or fantasy and then finding different ways to use that theme/fantasy throughout the story.
For me, it's usually something more general than a location (e.g., dom/sub, or sex with a stranger or voyeurism or whatever), and then I'll have the characters explore that underlying theme/fantasy in different settings.
So, for instance, if the overall theme is one partner's dominance over the other, then they might play that out in a conversation in one scene and in the kitchen in another scene and in a shower in another scene, but they'd all be tied together (no pun intended, for once) by their exploration of that underlying theme.

I'm kind of going off from a movie I saw a while back of a love scene in a shower in a hotel room, one of those big suite kinds, and it was really erotic. That's where I'm headed.
I love shower scenes in novels...very erotic. In real life, well, it can just be downright dangerous...it's slippery in there.
In fantasy, it's great. In real life...it's can be a bit awkward.
Not awkward at all in real life.

I can't in real life. Not only is my husband a full foot taller than me, but I get overheated easily and feel sick. Not very romantic to have to run to lie down in a cold room immediately afterward.

I found it sure can be awkward in real life if the footing isn't good (i.e. a slipery bath underfoot) and a lot of soap is involved.
Smile. I'm kind of struggling lately to do much disciplined stuff and am having a lot of fun experimenting, and a wee bit along what you're saying here Jan. In my case revolving around a Dom/sub relationship, switching between different aspects of the relationship. Almost disconnected yet connected snapshots. Purely for my own enjoyment really, and perhaps a good excuse to procrastinate, but I'm finding it interesting in terms of trying to convey eroticsm in a less "linear" way of story telling. Not marketable I would say, but fun.
For me the shower has always been to squeeky clean. With out getting graphic, you need a little slide if you know what i mean. The shower kinda cleans things up to fast.. I know too much info.... Sorry.
I have something following the shower scene, and then some..... we'll see how it plays out. I will let you all know how my muse and characters will take this. It could excite them!
I am way more into baths than showers personally but think both make an excellent setting for some very hot love making.
Shower scenes are so common as to be a cliche in slash fanfic and pro m/m romance. But I find many of them rather implausible, because I keep thinking that someone's going to slip and fall over...
