True cautionary tale
gray timber wolf
chained to an Oak tree
watched, waited
baby crawled
hand on hard packed dirt
pushed himself upright
first steps
a wobble
into a fall
tumbling
onto wolf
chain rattled
baby smelled
good
wolf drooled
mamma screamed
baby gone
round the tree
red eyes
blue eyes
no eyes
mama cries
to spirit wolf
on the wall
black animas
painted on clay brick
a ruby eye glowed
baby escaped
wolf whimpered
tooth marks aged to silver
(not sure about this poem)
the pic is mine too

One-Hundred Word Story
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~Once upon a time there lived a man who had two wolves chained to a tree. A girl and her baby came to visit the man. As she turned to hug the man she lowered the child to the ground. Being a curious lad he crawled to the wolves. The wolves thinking they had just been given a gift, picked him up and trotted behind the tree.
As I listened to this story I was so shocked about the baby's fate that I forgot the rest of the story. So forever after the child is in the wolves grinning mouths.~
the night the wolf appeared
first as a musty smell
he roamed wearily
in my dim dreams
he inhabited my waking
by first light
his second tell
tracks in the mud
scat boldly deposited
following nights
I laid awake waiting
for the breath of noise
an unseen movement
the crack of a twig
I lost a week
then fainted
flashes of blue black shine
long canines
garnet red eye
I'm dream walking
spray can in hand
like automatic writing
I released him onto the
red clay brick wall
why should a wolf
show me the way
I am perfectly in tune
one foot in front of the other
I know how to prowl
the smell of you
wafts upon the hot waves
of southern zephyrs
I'm in love
Awesome picture (and mucho spooky wolf)! It reminds me a lot of Apocalypse imagery (the four horsemen, especially).
ghetto wolf
coal-dust coat, stoplight eyes
no food today
keep hunting
Now that's graffiti that I would want to leave alone.
Love the picture, love the way you tell the story, and the subsequent poetry too.
the green grass...reality,
the wall...fear,
the missing bricks...a doorway,
the wolf...primordial.
'Voice of the Moon'
Bounding across open snowfields,
Like ghosts flowing through clouds,
A’waking call through a sleeping forest,
A’whispered songs across a sentinel land,
‘Tis call for the living - dear dirge for the dying,
To a hunt of a lifetime - for a lifetime by its death,
The Voice of the Moon - calls for the gathering.
In the habitat of the Buffalo Hunters,
These are its Guardians!
This wolf reminds me of the wolf in the movie '300'
danced around black fir
my feet flew faster
than you could run
sleek body blur
a red eye
lingered
I dreamed of you
nightly
rapacious spirit
Dark
wolf
watching
patiently
catching scent of man
stalking now, without urgency
he waits his one chance
and pounces
owning
his
prey
I wander
my tail moves
I am wondering
about this tail
I move
my fur glistens
the color catches
my attention
I look at my fur
it's so black
constellations glimmer
I wonder why
my eyes can't
take a break
you will never see him
in the light he's always
slinking sneaking around
the shadows not hiding
his intentions instead blending
with darkness and you forget
all about him but if you stand
still you can feel his breath
