I fished the first draft of the second volume of the book I’m writing (its divided in to three parts for the first adventure- I’m not sure if there for the same bound product but together they make up the first arc of the series.) I’m already in to the editing, and I have a whole another 1/3 of the adventure just waiting to be conceived… why aren’t more elated?

I’ve been working on this for 14 mouths and I’m 2/3 done with it (not counting editing the next phase when it’s done). Shouldn’t I be happier?

It's good that you have a goal with it, but perhaps... JUST perhaps you are loosing interest on your current work. Sometimes happens...

Dunno. Have you tried eating brownies and wearing a Hawaiian shirt?

Also, I have trouble letting go of "writing tension" until I'm really done-- which would be the last bit of editing on the last book. Then I celebrate and relax. Before that, there's always a feeling of, "More to do... more to do..."

Sometimes, the "fun" of writing turns into "work"... and worse, you're not getting paid by the hour.

When I find a particular passage I'm having trouble with, I can't go forward till I resolve it. It feels tedious, like I'm wasting my time. But once I figure my way out of the maze, I feel rejuvenated and the happy feelings return. It's not always gung-ho to the finish line. Sometimes it is in the first draft, but in revision, you sometimes feel like this is real work with real problems you sometimes can't resolve quickly.

But carry on. Once you reach the finish you'll be elated. Once you've finished your endless revisions, you'll be thoroughly satisfied. Then it's a matter of seeing whether or not you did things right, ie churned out a story that people want to read.
