I am writing an article on Coed Baby Showers. Honestly, I don't think I could ever get my own husband to attend one. :)

Have you attended or hosted a couples baby shower? I would love to get quotes on fun themes, activities, food ideas, etc. to include in the article.

If you've got anything please email me at [email protected]

Thanks!

We tried this for our last child. My poor husband and his best friend were the only men with the guts to show up. They soon melted out of sight, later to be found on the porch drinking beer, and hiding.

We had two co-ed showers and it was a blast. Basically just a barbeque with baby presents. They did have one game that made everyone laugh: they passed around a ball of yarn and all the guests cut a length that they thought would measure the circumference of my belly. I'll just say, I must have appeared a barge to some people.

We had a 'due date pool' where everyone paid a two dollars to guess date and time of day for the delivery, boy or girl and weight. There was complicated scoring, but I didn't pay any mind. I didn't win. :(

I think some of the elaborate baby-themed games would put a lot of guys off their malt beverages, but as I also have little patience for that sort of thing, we just skipped it. It was simply a chance for everyone to get together and waste a day of my interminable waiting just hanging out, laughing and checking out cool, new baby gadgets.

We had fun. Even the guys.

I went to one and I distinctly remember there being alcohol. Not 'woo-hoo kegstands!' but spiked punch, that sort of thing.
There needs to be booze. I drank non-alcoholic beer, which due to its hight vitamin B content, can be quite uplifting for a pregasaurus.

My friend had the baby shower thrown for her *husband* by his family/friends. All the normal games revolved around him. She was just another guest.

Though, after my experiences, I have to say that when you play the standard games, you need to be sure to be *explicit* with the rules. Like:

You know that game where you have to pull the diaper pins out of the bowl of rice and whoever gets the most out in the time frame wins? Well they *never* said *how* you had to get the pins out. I still say I won after dumping the entire bowl into my hands.

I mean, there wasn't a rule that said you couldn't do that, right? ;)
